Waller, Falconi, Cromack to OFSAA

310 high school athletes Georgia Waller, Nicholas Falconi & James Cromack all earned a trip to the OFSAA XC Championships being held in Waterloo on Nov.1.
 
Waller took the win at the YRAA Midget girls race on Oct. 15 at Boyd Conservation Area & helped propel her team from Dr. GW Williams in Aurora to the big race.
 
Falconi & Cromack both competed in ROPSSAA at Heart Lake Conservation Area on Oct. 23. Falconi finished 5th in the Midget boys race & Cromack won the bronze in the Junior boys race. Both advanced as individual athletes.

Fast Times at DOC

The 2014 edition of the Don Olson Classic proved to be the largest & fastest race ever. 332 athletes ranging in age from 5 to 79 finished either the 2.5K single loop or the 5K double loop event through the beautiful trails of Albion Hills.
 
On the women’s side, Maddy Grieg defended her 2.5K title with a course record 8:59 & Hiley Dobbs retained her 5K title with a course record 18:37.
 
The men were equally impressive with Cameron Dean earning the top spot in the 2.5K with an 8:27 & Thomas Witkowicz obliterating the 5K course record & the competition with a 16:21.
 
The Masters titles went to Holly Greenwood & Bob Grieg while the Junior winners were Alexys Maurice & Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky

Maurice, Barber Big in Windsor

Eight 310 Running athletes travelled to Windsor on August 2-3 to compete in Athletics Ontario Bantam/Midget/Youth Championships. When the dust settled, the group came away with a gold, a bronze & 8 big personal bests.
 
Makiah Hunt led the way by winning gold in the Youth girls pole vault. Teammate Laura Lopachyk finished 8th in the same event with a new personal best.
 
Bantam girls Alexys Maurice & Charlotte Barber had a spectacular Athletics Ontario Championships debut notching PBs in every event they competed in & scoring 17 points combined.
 
Alexys opened the competition with a bronze medal in the high jump & followed that up with 8th & 9th place finishes in the 800 & 1200 respectively. Charlotte narrowly missed the podium, logging two 4th place finishes, one in the 800 & the other in the 1200.
 
Simon Quann kept the good times rolling by running his fastest ever 800 & his second fastest 400 in the Youth boys category.
 
Liam Jordan & Kevin Nam also put in solid efforts over the weekend. Liam took on the Youth boys 800 while Kevin competed in the pole vault.
