Fast & Furious at the Fall Five
Course records were falling fast & furious at 310 Running’s Fall Five on Sunday September 11 at Albion Hills Conservation Area.
The 2.5K youth race ended in a virtual tie as the top male runner Levi Fretz & the top female runner Chardae Henry both clocked in at a smoking fast 9:26. The previous course records were 9:57 for males & 10:13 for females.
In the 5K race defending champion TJ Kountourogiannis retained his title by running a 17:09; a 22 second improvement over last years record. New womens champion Kelsey Horner posted a course best time of 20:29, knocking a full 2:08 off last years winning time.
Over 500 athletes, spectators & volunteers enjoyed a spectacular day on the beautiful trails of Albion Hills.

310 Athletes Hit the Books
Every year the MTA releases an updated record book for indoor & outdoor track. It is a collection of the top results of all time collected over the past 50 or more years that the MTA has been in existence.
Last year, Dylan Proulx was the first ever 310 Running athlete to earn a spot in the MTA Outdoor Record Book. Dylan is now in good company as a brilliant season saw a number of athletes earn their own spots in the book.
New inductees include:

Hill Wins Hershey NA Championship
310 Running’s Christian Hill proved that he is one of the fastest eleven year olds in North America by winning the gold medal in the 11/12 year old boys 400M race at the Hershey North American Championships held in Hershey Pennsylvania on August 6.
Christian dominated the competition by running a sizzling 59.15 seconds. The next nearest competitor was over two seconds back.
Christian ends his 2011 track campaign with three Provincial titles, a North American title and three Ontario records.
Nicole Skimming, who has also had a very successful season, competed in the 13/14 year old girls 800M event and placed 4th overall.
Christian and Nicole were part of a very strong contingent of Ontario athletes who dominated the Hershey Championships this year. Team Ontario earned 7 gold medals out of a possible 14.
The other Team Ontario athletes were Charlotte Prouse, Mariam Abdul-Rashid, Camryn Steckel, Mathieu Plamondon, Jared Ruest, Ibrahim Ayorinde, Jadyn Skeen, Zev Weisdorf, Alyssa Marsh, Rhys Rusby, Lee Nicholson, Alleyah Hinds, Zanara McIntosh, Simone Spencer & Chinque Thompson.
Jamie Can Jump
310 Running’s Jamie Skimming shattered her personal best on her way to a provincial silver medal in the Youth girls triple jump at the Athletics Ontario Bantam/Midget/Youth Championships held at York Universtity on July 24th.
Jamie broke the 11 metre mark twice topping out at an impressive 11.20m. The gold medalist, Jordan Bates, jumped 11.28m.
Following her success at Provincials, Skimming competed on August 7th in Ottawa at the Legion National Youth Championships against all of the top ranked jumpers in Canada. Jamie set yet another PB on her way to a very strong 6th place finish with a jump of 11.24m.
With her latest result, Skimming ends her 2011 season ranked 5th in Ontario and 9th in Canada for her age group in triple jump.
Two Heading to NA Championships
In only its second year competing in Hershey Meets, 310 Running is sending not one, but two athletes to the Hershey North American Championships in Hershey, PA.
Christian Hill & Nicole Skimming were both invited to compete in the prestigious event on August 6th.
11 year old Christian set a new Hershey Ontario record of 1:00.05 in the boys 11/12 year old 400M race on his way to the Hershey Provincial title.
Nicole followed later in the day with her own gold medal in a stellar time of 2:22.24 in the girls 13/14 year old 800M event.
As Ontario champions, their times held up against the state champions from Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio to earn them a berth in the Hershey PA meet where they will compete against the fastest athletes from both the US & Canada.
Holy Hershey!!
5 athletes. 7 events. 1 Hershey Ontario record, 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 2 bronze medals & 7 personal bests. Wow!
Christian Hill broke a 10 year old Hershey record in the 11/12 year old boys 400M race, set a new PB & won the gold medal.
Nicole Skimming went wire to wire to win the 13/14 year old girls 800M race while setting a new PB. Nicole also finished 6th in the softball throw.
Dominique Dhamalie earned a silver medal in the 11/12 year old girls 400M race & then went on to win the bronze in the 800M event. Dominique set new personal standards in both events.
Chloe Hill also set a new best while taking the bronze in the 13/14 year old girls standing long jump.
Jarod Morgenroth-Rebin had a huge PB, improving by 8 seconds in the very fast 13/14 year old boys 1600M.
Both Christian & Nicole are very well placed to earn an invitation to the Hershey NA Championship in Pennsylvania on August 6. Their times will now be compared against athletes from Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio & the athletes with the top times will be invited to compete.
Skimming Takes Silver in Pentathlon
Nicole Skimming ran her way into a silver medal in the Midget girls pentathlon at the AO Provincial Combined Events Championship held at York University on June 11.
The pentathlon includes the 80M hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump & an 800M run. Points are awarded in each event based on the athletes performance. Nicole scored a total of 2834 points in the 5 events.
While Nicole set PBs in three events (high jump, long jump & the 800), it was her dominance in the final event, the 800M run, that lifted her to the silver medal. Nicole entered the race 170 points out of second but outscored her opponent by over 200 points by running a sparkling 2:24.16.
Chan & Vanderjagt Earn Award at GF Wright Meet
Lauren Chan of Macville Public School and Adrian Vanderjagt of Allan Drive Middle School are two hard working athletes. On June 10, both were recognized for their dedication and effort when they were presented with 310 Running’s Outstanding Effort Award at the G.F. Wright Track Meet.
The award was created last year to recognize one male and one female athlete who not only competed well, but prepare themselves to compete well at the G.F. Wright Meet.
Lauren is a talented runner with a great attitude and a passion for training and racing. Chan has had a taste of success in cross country running and continues to apply herself so that she can stay on top.
Adrian was extremely diligent at try outs and in practice. He showed a keen interest in a wide variety of events and despite suffering a frustrating injury just before the meet, Vanderjagt still competed with heart and enthusiasm.
Both winners were very worthy recipients of a trophy and a 310 Running t-shirt.
Five to Hershey Finals
310 Running participated in a qualifier meet in Scarborough on May 29th and will be sending five athletes to compete at the Hershey Provincial Meet to be held on June 26th in Whitby.
Dominique Dhamalie was a double gold medalist winning both the 400 metre and 800 metre events in the girls 11/12 year old category.
Christian Hill took the gold in the boys 11/12 year old 400 metre race. Christian also earned a bronze in the 200 metre sprint.
Chloe Hill won a silver in the 13/14 year old girls standing long jump. Chloe followed that effort up with an 11th place finish in the 200 metre race.
Nicole Skimming leaned in for the gold in the 13/14 year old girls 800 metre event in a finish that featured four girls crossing the line within 12/100s of a second of each other. Skimming also qualified for the ball throw by taking the silver. In a non-Hershey 400 metre race Nicole won gold.
Jarod Morgenroth-Rebin earned a silver in the boys 13/14 year old 1600 metre race. Jarod also posted an impressive fourth place result in the 800 metre event.
Those 310 Running athletes that did not qualify had impressive results as well, each only missing their berth at Provincials by a single spot.
Charlotte Barber shone with a bronze in the 200 metre sprint and a fourth place finish in the 400 metre event.
Matthew Falconi won a bronze in the 400 metre race while older brother Nicholas Falconi ran a very fast 800M race also earning a bronze.
Danielle Dhamalie had a very strong outing and brought home the bronze in both the 400 metre and 800 metre races.
Paige Barber, competing in her first ever track meet, earned a gold in the Peewee girls 200 metre race. This was a non-Hershey event.
Qualifiers will now compete to try to earn a spot at the Hershey North American Championships in Pennsylvania.
Jamie Has Season Best Jump at OFSAA
Jamie Skimming represented Humberview Secondary School at OFSAA on June 3rd at Laurentian University in Sudbury.
Jamie, a grade 11 student & first year senior athlete, entered the senior girls competition seeded 18th. With an opening jump of 10.77M, Skimming topped her season best and moved herself up to 14th place overall.

310 Running Starts Strong in Burlington
310 Running started it’s 2011 MTA outdoor track & field season at the Gord Rusby Memorial Meet in Burlington on May 21.
Christian Hill won the Atom boys 400M gold and broke the MTA record set in 1985 by running an unbelievable 1:00.09.
Following Christian’s success, Nicole Skimming crushed her 400M PB by running a 59.51 in the Senior girls event to secure gold. Nicole also earned a bronze in the shot put and a 4th place finish in high jump.
Twin sisters, Danielle & Dominique Dhamalie were asked to cover a spectrum of events in the Atom girls division. Danielle finished 11th in the 200M and 6th in the 400M sprints while Dominique placed 5th in both the 800M & 1500M races.
Charlotte Barber mounted a spectacular charge at the end of the Tyke girls 800M race to win bronze. Charlotte also had a very fast 1500M race placing 4th overall.
Charlie Butler & Ethan Biase represented 310 Running in the Mite boys division. Charlie won bronze in the long jump with Ethan close behind in 7th. Ethan got the better of Charlie in the running events with the boys placing 5th and 7th in the 200M race and 4th and 6th in the 400M race respectively.
Jack Butler became the youngest athlete ever to compete for 310 Running at a track meet. 5 year old Jack ran in the PeeWee boys 100M race finishing 9th.
310 Shines in the Rain
310 Running athletes, both current & alumni, competed for their respective schools in the NPPHEA XC meet held in Brampton on a very soggy May 3.
Despite the challenging conditions, these athletes represented themselves, their schools & 310 Running extremely well.
Danielle Dhamalie won the Junior girls race followed by Mikaela Dodig, Dominique Dhamalie & Jessica Dodig who finished in 2nd, 3rd & 4th respectively.
In the Senior girls race, Nicole Skimming took the gold with Krista Gislason following in 7th & Meaghan Hymers in 16th. Meaghan, a Junior athlete, was racing up with the Seniors.
The Junior boys race saw Spencer Beam earn a 9th place finish followed by Evan Barlow in 16th & Jarod Morgenroth-Rebin in 20th.
In the Senior boys race Alex Trkulja placed 19th & Dylan Proulx followed in 45th. Dylan was another Junior athlete racing up in the Senior category.
Special kudos go to the Allan Drive Senior girls team who easily won the team title with an amazing 28 points. Their 8 athletes finished 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 16th & 18th in a race with 159 athletes.
Impressive Day at York Open
The York Season Opener held at York University on April 30 was an exceptional early outdoor open meet for 3 of 310 Runnings competitive athletes.
Nicole Skimming, competing against last years Midget OFSAA champion, improved her 800M PB by over 2.5 seconds finishing in third in 2:27.32.
Devin Hymers, preparing for ROPSSAA, improved on his best 1500M time by finishing in 4:48.91.
Jamie Skimming landed a 10.74M jump in the womens triple jump earning a second place finish.
Gold & 400M Indoor Record at Provincials
Everyone knew the Atom boys 400M race at the MTA Indoor Provincial Championships held at York University on April 2 was going to be fast. With the three best 400M runners in Ontario including the current MTA record holder competing for the gold medal, it had to be fast.
The boys did not disappoint.
When it was all said and done, 310 Running’s Christian Hill captured the Provincial gold medal and the new MTA Jr. Atom 400M record finishing in a blazingly fast 1:00.77.
Another Podium Finish in Triple Jump
Jamie Skimming added another medal to her 2011 triple jump tally by landing a bronze medal at the Athletics Ontario Youth Indoor Championships held on February 19th at York University. In this closely contested event, only 6 centimeters separated the top 3 jumpers.
Jamie’s triple jump success followed close on the heels of a 6th place finish in the high jump where she equaled her personal best height.
Skimming started her 2011 indoor track & field campaign in style by earning a silver medal in triple jump at the International Youth Meet of Champions on January 23rd. Jamie competed against the best 16 year old jumpers from Ontario & Quebec.
On January 29, Jamie built on her success by earning a bronze medal competing for the District E team at the Legion Indoor Provincial Championships.
