2016 Don Olson Classic In The Books

Hundreds of athletes descended on Albion Hills Conservation Area on October 1 to participate in the 4th annual Don Olson Classic 2.5K & 5K trail race.
 
Defending men’s 5K Champion Thomas Witkowicz earned his 3rd consecutive victory in a course record time of 15:56. Dean Cameron took the silver in 16:18 & Jamie Tarling won bronze with a 16:27. Jamie’s time shattered the men’s 20-29 age group record.
 
In the women’s 5K, Alessia Pizzimenti won the gold in 19:59 with Aysia Maurice & Emma Everett close on her heels in the silver & bronze medal positions in 20:02 & 20:03 respectively.
 
Top overall male in the youth 2.5K race was Jack Wierzbicki who crossed the line in 8:32 while top overall female, Ella Jackson, navigated the course in 9:17.

Provincial Silver for 310 Running’s Bantam Girls

310 Running’s Bantam girls team consisting of Aysia Maurice, Emma Everett, Lexy Maurice & Charlotte Barber took the team silver at the Athletics Ontario Provincial Cross Country Championships held in Etobicoke on Sunday November 15.
 
The girls finished 10th, 13th, 16th & 25th respectively for a combined team total of 64 against a very strong field of Bantam athletes.
 
Congratulations to all four girls for a spectacular effort to end an amazing season.

MTA Athletes of Excellence

310 Running athletes Christian Hill & Georgia Waller were two of 23 athletes recognized as MTA Senior Athletes of Excellence at the Minor Track Association awards banquet held in Brampton on January 31.
 
The award recognizes track & field athletes who have had outstanding results over their MTA careers.
 
Canadian Commonwealth Games medalist Kate Van Buskirk was the guest speaker & presented the awards to the very deserving group of young athletes.
